Kurrimine Beach is one of the closest beaches to the Great Barrier Reef – we are so close that we can walk out to explore King Reef on very low tides.
To visit the reef usually involves a boat trip and $$$$! Well here at Kurrimine Beach you can walk out and explore the reef for free – that’s absolutely no charge. The only rule that we have here at the Kurrimine Beach Holiday Park is that anyone who picks up a crayfish must share it at happy hour!
If you would like to partake in the walk, bring some shoes with you that you don’t mind getting wet – reef shoes are perfect! It is approximately an 800m walk through thigh high water to get out to the reef and usually takes about 30 – 45 mins.
You can come and see us at the office for advice on where to leave from, what times you should be heading out and back in and any other questions you may have. Usually there are quite a few people heading out and they do so as a group.
